Statement of Mission
To balance progress and prosperity of Texas and its communities, it is necessary to formulate a common vision, common goals, and the policies needed to achieve these ends.
The Lone Star Foundation is a Texas-based "think-tank" devoted to providing the resources and research needed for the development of public policy based on traditional Texas values of family, freedom, free enterprise, and the Constitution.
The Lone Star Report, a weekly newsletter on state affairs and government, is the foundation's principal form of communication. Each issue provides independent and non-partisan coverage of the activities of the Texas Legislature, special committees, elections, and state agencies, with in-depth analysis and incisive editorials.
The Research Division offers the critical analysis required to formulate innovative state policy. Reports and briefings are designed to provide public officials and policy leaders with the information and ideas needed to solve challenges in education, finance, health care, welfare, criminal justice, and government administration.
Public Policy Seminars provide an opportunity for legislators, educators, public officials, and policy leaders to meet with national experts, hear independent analysis of critical problems facing Texas, consider new solutions, and develop ideas to improve state and local government.
